The following are some Recommended Manufacuring and Installation guidelines for Security Grills :
Spaces between bars and other elements used in the fabrication of grills should be such that a sphere 6 inches in diameter cannot
pass through any opening.
The latch or frame of the security grill should be mounted to the structure in a manner to resist a 300 pound pull before
releasing from an outside force.
One grill in each room used for sleeping should be equipped with a release device designed for emergency escape.
Grills should be hinged on one side to provide easy escape.
For opening dimensions, refer to your local building codes.
Grills that are longer vertically than horizontally should have two locking points but a single emergency escape release mechanism.
