With the variety of bar stock available, deciding on a finished product can be a time consuming process. Spanish themes generally are created using the hammered
edge square bar or heavy hammered square bar. This hammered bar is generally what customers envision when they think "wrought iron" and many of our time honored products are made from this hammered bar stock. We also stock a variety of other types of wrought iron bar: twisted square bar,
twisted rope bar, tree bark design in round bar and square bar, round hammered bar, four-clover bar, grooved square bar, plus and a variety of miscellaneous bar designs available for order.
The new modern wrought iron designs use plain square bar stock. This bar gives the clean sharp angles desired for a contemporary look and many of our new panel and scroll designs are made from plain square bar.
No matter the bar type, your project can be made with bar from 1/2" thick up to 1" thick; in round or square shapes.
Many customers use 1/2" bar stock for their projects as this makes the finished product lighter as well as more opaque. However the trend I have seen here in Metal Amore´ over the last year has been the use of 5/8" bar for outdoor projects. The resulting
appearance is a more solid looking product.
Whatever the finished product, deciding on the bar type is critical for your project. We keep a large supply of all types of bar in stock so come into the Showroom
and see the difference. Pictures can give you an idea of what to expect, but seeing it is an entirely different process and can get the creative ideas flowing!
